This from the Health Authority's announcement is also noteworthy: "Case data, which is based on individual laboratory test reporting and is heavily biased, will be retired. The changes align with CDC recommendations and mirror how influenza is monitored."

Yes, CDC stopped reporting case and testing data at the end of the public health emergency, focusing on hospitalization and death data. The CDC web site says, "Case data has become increasingly unreliable as some states and jurisdictions may no longer collect case data, testing results are sometimes not reported, or some individuals skip testing all together. I no longer care what the CDC recommends. It’s not binding.

I'd like to get back to CDC recommendations being irrelevant. But now, many schools are required to follow state guidance about isolation times for students, and some businesses do as well. That's why I recommend working at the state level to move on from blindly copying CDC protocols.
